Right: kitchen in 1974 with gas fixture and pipes still in place. Apartment was in ruins and abandoned after a tenant who lived there for fifty years passed away.
The wood used in the kitchen is the recycled molding removed in 2000. All wall and ceiling angles have been curved. Arches have been installed wherever possible. The rainbow painting in the forefront is the refrigerator cover.

Paint job: based on the Rudolph Steiner method.
To give the narrow kitchen a more spacious feel, Matuschka elected to have all cabinets and storage start from the waist down and to utilize sunken storage space. Whenever possible, furniture, closets, or items were sunk directly into the wall.
